Secat, Inc. recently signed a contract with Alexin, LLC to provide metallurgical services for their Bluffton, IN Aluminum extrusion ingot production facility.

Alexin, LLC is a cutting edge, aluminum extrusion ingot production facility in Northern Indiana.  Alexin’s expertise is recycling Aluminum extrusion and consumer scrap to produce high quality aluminum extrusion ingot.  Alexin’s aluminum extrusion ingot has set a new standard in quality and extrudability.

In striving to continue producing high quality aluminum products, Alexin, LLC had teamed up with the aluminum technology experts at Secat, Inc.  Secat specializes in aluminum research and will assist Alexin, LLC with all aspects of manufacturing that they conduct in their Bluffton IN, facility through the end of 2014.

Secat is world renowned for aluminum testing, aluminum research, failure analysis, product development, alloy development, and the enhancement of processes and properties. Secat is located in Lexington KY.

Secat, Inc. of Lexington KY recently inked an annual contract with Ohio Valley Aluminum Company to provide metallurgical services for their Shelbyville, KY aluminum billet manufacturing operations.


Ohio Valley Aluminum Company (OVACO), American owned and operated, has been a manufacturer of aluminum billet for the aluminum extrusion industry since 1955. Today, the Ohio Valley Aluminum Company produces the highest quality extrusion billet available by utilizing highly skilled employees and the latest technological advances.

Secat has signed on to be their “Go To” team for technical support in OVACO’s aluminum manufacturing processes.  Secat specializes in aluminum technology, and will assist OVACO with all aspects of manufacturing that they conduct in their Shelbyville Ky facility – from casting to homogenizing aluminum.

SECAT – The Beginning of Something BIG!

SECAT began in 1999 when a group of aluminum industry executives recognized the need for an independent, state of the art testing facility. One needs to understand, however, that this sort of thing doesn’t happen overnight…

Starting in 1999 in partnership with the Center for Aluminum Technology, the endeavor was funded with support from UK, state and federal government and strategic aluminum industry partners. Initially the company managed four collaborative research projects while getting the laboratory facilities readied –SECAT’s Coldstream Research Campus Facility was functional by 2003 and in 2005 the initial projects were completed.
Now came the time to “flip” the work of SECAT to a proprietary basis – the company’s focus became positioning itself as the aluminum specific R&D facility for the entire industry. The selling point of “Access without Ownership” became the core of SECAT’s business model.
In a continually evolving and growing industry SECAT’s ability to serve as the low cost R&D center has positioned the company as the industry leader in solving problems and Providing Aluminum Answers.
